The two major franchise cricket tournaments the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) were postponed due to tensions between India and Pakistan. Both leagues are set to restart on May 17, but the delay has caused significant disruptions, with many foreign players leaving over security concerns. This has left team squads in disarray, forcing franchises to scramble for replacements.
To fill the gaps, franchises are actively recruiting available players. Mustafizur Rahman has received an official offer from Delhi Capitals (IPL), while Lahore Qalandars (PSL) has expressed interest in Shakib Al Hasan. However, securing these players isn’t straightforward both must obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) before they can participate.
Reports indicate that Shakib recently contacted BCB officials to request clearance. Meanwhile, a board source revealed that Mustafizur has also applied for an NOC, though no decision has been made yet.
While Shakib is likely to get approval, doubts remain over Mustafizur’s release, especially since he is already committed to Bangladesh’s upcoming series against the UAE. The final decision rests with the BCB, leaving both players and the franchises in suspense.
