Bangladesh suffers humiliating loss to Zimbabwe in home Test

Is Sylhet becoming a haunting ground for Bangladesh when facing Zimbabwe? The Tigers suffered another painful defeat at the Sylhet International Stadium, losing by 3 wickets six and a half years after their 151-run loss at the same venue in 2018.

Despite a brilliant spell from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who spun magic with key breakthroughs, Bangladesh’s modest target of 174 wasn’t enough. Zimbabwe’s chase began with a solid 95-run stand from openers Brian Bennett (54) and Ben Curran (44). Miraz broke the stand and added more scalps, raising hopes with a five-wicket haul. But Wesley Madhevere (19*) and Richard Ngarava (4*) held firm at the end, guiding Zimbabwe to another historic win in Sylhet.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz delivered a brilliant individual performance, taking 5 wickets for 50 runs in Zimbabwe’s second innings after already claiming 5 in the first.

Bangladesh, who began the day at 194/4, were bowled out for 255. Nazmul Hossain Shanto fell early on 60, while Zaker Ali battled valiantly, scoring 58 off 111 balls with 4 boundaries and a six.

Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani was the standout with the ball, finishing with 6/72.
