Bangladesh ODI rankings fall after West Indies win over Pakistan

Bangladesh climbed from tenth to ninth in the ODI rankings last July after defeating Sri Lanka. However, without playing a match this time, Mehedi Hasan Miraz’s side has slipped back to tenth place. On the same day, West Indies improved their position by one spot following a victory over Pakistan.

Shai Hope’s men beat Pakistan by five wickets in the second ODI of the series using the DL method their first win over the Men in Green since 2019. With that result, the West Indies moved up to ninth place. Pakistan’s loss pushed them down to fifth, while Sri Lanka rose to fourth.

Bangladesh 77 rating points

Before this match, both Bangladesh and West Indies had 77 rating points, with Bangladesh narrowly ahead. Now, the Caribbean side holds 78 points. Even if they lose the final ODI of the series against Pakistan, their position will remain unchanged.

Currently, Pakistan has 102 rating points in fifth place, while Sri Lanka holds 103 points in fourth. India, New Zealand, and Australia continue to occupy the top three spots in the ICC ODI team rankings.

These rankings are crucial for the 2027 ODI World Cup, where the top six teams will qualify directly. The remaining six spots will be decided through the qualifiers. The tournament will be jointly hosted by South Africa and Zimbabwe.
