Pakistan team will play the Test match under the leadership of Shan Masood.
The three-match Test series between Pakistan and England is going to start from October 7. The first Test match will be played at the ground of Multan. Meanwhile, the PCB announced the Pakistani squad for the first Test against England on Tuesday (September 24) and declared Shan Masood as the captain. In fact, after being whitewashed 0-2 in the Bangladesh Test series, Masood’s captaincy was hanging in the balance.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board expressed confidence in Masood and dismissed all speculations. Pakistan has played five Tests so far under the leadership of Shan Masood and has not won a single one. 37-year-old spinner Noman Ali has returned to the Pakistan team. He played the last Test in July 2023. Noman has been included in place of injured fast bowler Khurram Shahzad.
This spin bowler has played 15 Test matches for Pakistan so far, in which he took 47 wickets. He took 7 wickets for 70 runs in his last Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, which is the best performance of his career. All-rounder Aamer Jamal has also returned. Aamer has got a place in the 15-man squad after recovering from a back problem. He did not play in the Bangladesh series.

Regarding this series, Pakistan Test team head coach Jason Gillespie said, “Due to the busy schedule of domestic and international cricket, it is wise to give our players some much needed rest before the Test series against England. We are eagerly waiting to play against England in Pakistan and we are excited to play in front of our wonderful supporters.”
This Test series between Pakistan and England will be played under the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). Pakistan is currently at eighth position and England at fifth position in the WTC 2023-25 points table. India is currently at the top of this points table.
